Job Summary
The Amt für Binnen-Verkehrstechnik (ABVT) is seeking an IT and Telecommunications Engineer to join their Technical Operations team in Koblenz. This role involves the operational management and technical oversight of information services and systems for inland waterways. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating planning and implementation meetings, managing maintenance and repair activities, overseeing spare parts and material supply, and supporting local teams with troubleshooting. The successful candidate will also be responsible for procurement processes, contract management with third parties, and developing training materials. This is a crucial role in ensuring the secure and reliable operation of critical infrastructure, including fiber optic networks and radio communication systems, contributing to the "Verkehrstechnik 4.0" strategy.
Required Skills
Education
University of Applied Sciences Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Telecommunications / Information Technology or comparable field.
Experience
- Professional experience as an Engineer
- Good knowledge and practical experience in maintenance, change management, and spare parts management for information services and systems
- Practical experience in computer networks and network technology, including configuration
- Knowledge and practical experience in measurement technology and troubleshooting in computer and network technology
- Experience in procurement and contract management
Languages

- Willingness to undertake multi-day business trips within Germany and neighboring countries; Class B driving license (old Class 3) and willingness to drive an official vehicle; Willingness to undergo further training in unrelated subject areas; For foreign educational qualifications, a comparability certificate from the anabin database is required.
