Job Summary
This role involves conceptualizing, coordinating, and developing IT applications and data management systems, specifically within agricultural meteorology and plant protection warning services. The successful candidate will analyze and evaluate existing IT platforms for utilizing geospatial data (satellite, aerial, drone imagery) in scientific research and monitoring, including establishing and optimizing IT processes and database structures. A key aspect is supporting the integration of AI infrastructure and digital tools into ongoing routines. The position also requires contributing to digitalization and data management in national and international research projects, ensuring IT security and data protection compliance, and providing training and documentation for users. This is an exciting opportunity to shape future-oriented topics in an interdisciplinary team.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree in Computer Science, Geoinformatics, Data Science, Data Engineering, or comparable fields. For foreign degrees, proof of recognition in Germany is required.
Experience
- Professional experience in IT requirements analysis and implementation of new functionalities and optimizations, including Open Data applications
- Experience with geographic information systems, ideally QGIS
- Experience working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL
- Experience in interface and API data management, including automation of data retrieval, preparation, and provisioning
- Experience with Deep Learning architectures, ideally Keras, TensorFlow, or YOLO
Languages
Additional
- Must be willing to acquire basic meteorological, measurement technology, and agricultural science knowledge. Position is located in Ruhstorf a.d. Rott or Freising.
