Doctoral Researcher (Physics) | Physiker (m/w/d)
Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB)
Job Summary
This doctoral researcher position at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig focuses on advancing optical clock technology by developing the 173Yb+ isotope for use in an optical clock. The role involves automating clock operation, investigating stability improvements using multiple ions and entanglement, and developing protocols for hyperfine transitions. Key responsibilities also include determining systematic frequency shifts, extending Python-based experiment control with ARTIQ, and expanding existing laser setups. The successful candidate will conduct, evaluate, and analyze comparative measurements with other optical clocks to verify uncertainty and explore physics beyond the Standard Model. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated physicist to contribute to cutting-edge metrology, present research at international conferences, and publish in scientific journals within a renowned research institution, benefiting from excellent infrastructure and a supportive doctoral program.
