Job Summary

The University of Bielefeld is seeking a Head for its central IT Service Center (BITS), a critical role in shaping the university's digital future. This leadership position involves comprehensive responsibility for the strategic, operational, and personnel management of the BITS, which serves nearly 30,000 users. The successful candidate will drive the conceptual development of IT architecture, ensure the optimal delivery of IT services for research, teaching, and administration, and oversee the entire IT service management, including external vendor coordination. This role requires a visionary leader with strong communication and negotiation skills, capable of fostering a service-oriented culture and managing a large team of over 100 employees. It's an opportunity to significantly impact the digitalization strategy of a major university.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in a scientific field or comparable qualification acquired through equivalent activities and experience

Experience

  • Several years of professional or project experience in leading central IT service units or comparable experience
  • Proven success in organizational projects
  • Leadership experience and proven methodological competence in change management and IT service management processes (e.g., ITIL)
  • Experience in applying current business management control instruments for IT service management (key figure systems, controlling processes)
  • Experience in a university or scientific environment
  • Extensive experience in project management/multi-project management
  • Proven personnel leadership competence and experience
