This role involves the comprehensive management and operation of laboratories specializing in melting technology, microscopy, and analytics. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating various lab equipment, ensuring proper handling of chemicals, utilizing software for batch and glass property calculations, and performing laser scanning microscopy, DTA, and dilatometry, all while adhering to safety regulations. A key part of the role includes preparing detailed reports and protocols for both internal and external projects. Furthermore, the position offers significant involvement in publicly funded research projects, as well as engaging in contract research and services for industrial partners. This involves collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to advance and refine glass melting technologies and materials, making it an attractive opportunity for those passionate about applied research and innovation in material sciences.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in Glass or Materials Science, or related fields. Alternatively, completed vocational training in a craft with further qualification as a Master Craftsman or Technician.
