Job Summary

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Research Associate or PhD Student to join the Chair of Zoology and Animal Physiology at TUD Dresden University of Technology. The successful candidate will contribute to a DFG-funded project focused on unraveling the metabolic connection between neural stem cells and their glial niche, led by Dr. Ioannis Nellas. Day-to-day tasks will involve utilizing genetically encoded fluorescent metabolite sensors to study metabolite dynamics, alongside various molecular biology techniques, modern genetic engineering, and microscopy. This role is ideal for someone passionate about neuroscience and metabolism, offering the chance to gain further academic qualification (PhD) within a multicultural research group that communicates in English. The research aims to enhance understanding of nervous system metabolic plasticity, potentially impacting insights into neurodegenerative diseases.

Required Skills

Education

MSc or equivalent degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or Biophysics

Experience

  • Experience in cell or molecular biology
  • Knowledge of Drosophila genetics and live imaging (ideal)

  • Ability to relocate to Chile for 6 months for collaboration
