The Police Headquarters for Operations, Logistics, and Technology (PP ELT) in Mainz, Germany, is seeking a Senior Application Developer to join their IT Applications department. This role is crucial for modernizing and harmonizing police IT systems within the "Police 20/20" program, focusing on developing cutting-edge investigation systems like INPOL-Land (POLIS) and biometric applications (facial recognition, digital fingerprints, DNA). Day-to-day tasks involve designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining police applications, coordinating project implementation within a team, providing technical consultation to stakeholders, and performing bug fixes and code reviews. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's or university of applied sciences degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Information Technology, Communications Engineering, or comparable IT-related fields, or relevant vocational training or comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Several years of experience in software development
  • Very good knowledge in object-oriented software development
  • Good knowledge in SQL and experience with relational database systems
  • Experience in the administration of servers with Microsoft Windows Server operating system (advantageous)
  • Knowledge in the development of INPOL systems (Information System of the Police) (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of common network protocols, network components, and network topologies and their functionality
