Job Summary

The University of Rostock is seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher in Modeling and Simulation to join their Institute of Visual and Analytic Computing. This role involves significant research in modeling and simulation, with a strong focus on pursuing a Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification) and actively acquiring third-party funding for research projects. The successful candidate will also be responsible for delivering research-based lectures, tutorials, and practicals (8 SWS) in modeling and simulation, guiding students in scientific work, and evaluating their performance. Key responsibilities include publishing research findings in international venues, participating in peer review processes, and contributing to the organization of scientific events. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Diplom, Master, or comparable) in Computer Science with a very good result; Completed doctorate in Computer Science with a very good result.

Experience

  • Several years of relevant professional experience in developing methods for modeling, simulation, execution, documentation, and partial automation of simulation studies, with a focus on stochastic discrete-event simulation, documented in international publications.
  • Experience applying simulation methods in various fields, particularly demography, cell biology, and/or economics.
  • Extensive experience in publishing research results internationally.
  • Experience in academic teaching of modeling and simulation, including tutorials and seminars in parallel-distributed simulation and data-driven simulation, and supervising theses.
  • Experience participating in international conferences, e.g., as a program committee member, in the field of modeling and simulation.
  • Experience in acquiring third-party funding.
  • Experience and knowledge in Open Science.
