Job Summary

The University of Bonn is seeking an IT Specialist to join their Crop Science and Resource Conservation Institute. This role involves supporting researchers with simulation experiments, managing hardware for Microsoft Windows and Linux systems, and improving software and simulation component documentation within the SIMPLACE model platform. The specialist will also contribute to a research project focused on exchanging model components and handle various support tasks, including website maintenance and hybrid teaching environments. This is a part-time position (up to 70%) and offers a dynamic work environment within an internationally recognized research group focused on plant cultivation, food security, and climate change.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor, Master, or Diploma) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Geoinformatics, or similar fields; alternatively, completed vocational training as an IT Specialist with several years of relevant experience or proven equivalent knowledge and professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in IT, IT support, or related fields
  • Experience in setting up and administering server systems (desirable)
  • Experience in team-based software development (desirable)
  • Experience in simulating dynamic systems (beneficial)
