Job Summary

The Helmholtz Institute for One Health (HIOH) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join its international and interdisciplinary research teams in Greifswald. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment, working with a variety of human, animal, and environmental samples. The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive lab maintenance, including cleaning, disinfection, waste disposal, and equipment upkeep, particularly in biosafety levels 1 to 3. They will also prepare culture media, manage lab supplies, and assist with emergency clean-ups. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Laboratory Technician or comparable qualification

Experience

  • Professional experience in laboratory work and/or biological safety areas
  • Experience with biosafety level 3 (S3) laboratories is advantageous
  • Ability to perform regular heavy physical work (e.g., lifting 20 kg)
  • Ability to work independently and organize tasks

Additional

  • Temporary contract for 2 years, with the aim of continued employment. Must be able to work in Greifswald, Germany. Knowledge or experience in biosafety level 3 (S3) laboratories is advantageous. Willingness to work with potentially infectious material.
