Job Summary

This doctoral position at the Leibniz Institute for Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated Research Scientist to contribute to cutting-edge plant science. The role focuses on investigating the mechanistic interaction of phytonutrients in plant responses to environmental changes, specifically examining the impact of drought stress on sulfur-containing plant compounds in Brassica vegetables and the role of glucosinolate degradation in drought tolerance. Day-to-day tasks include planning and executing plant cultivation experiments, conducting chemical analyses using advanced instrumental methods like HPLC-MS and GC-MS, performing protein isolation and characterization, and carrying out plant physiological and molecular biological investigations. The successful candidate will also be responsible for data analysis, publishing results in international journals, and presenting findings at conferences. This position is ideal for someone passionate about interdisciplinary research at the intersection of plants, humans, and the environment, offering the chance to pursue a PhD at the Technical University Berlin within a supportive international research environment.
