This role involves applying advanced AI and machine learning techniques to analyze vast and complex astronomical datasets and simulations. The successful candidate will actively contribute to the Euclid and LSST projects, focusing on measuring and simulating cosmic shear, galaxy-galaxy lensing, and galaxy clustering using current imaging data. A key aspect of the position is the calibration of shear and redshift measurements. This is an exciting opportunity for a researcher with a strong background in astronomy/astrophysics and hands-on experience with AI methods, optical/infrared sky surveys, and weak gravitational lensing, offering a chance to contribute to cutting-edge research in observational cosmology.

Experience

  • Experience with AI methods or machine learning
  • Experience with optical and infrared sky surveys in extragalactic astronomy
  • In-depth knowledge of the weak gravitational lensing effect
  • Experience with image processing of astronomical data from optical and infrared telescopes
  • Experience with multicolor photometry
  • Experience with photometric redshifts
  • Experience with calibration of redshift distributions for cosmic shear measurements
  • Experience with calibration of shear measurements
