Job Summary

The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is seeking a Subject Specialist focusing on Open Science to join its University and State Library. This role involves a blend of traditional library subject specialism and advanced technical development, particularly in digital services. Key responsibilities include collaborating with IT departments and partner institutions to enhance digital offerings, programming interfaces for data exchange, and integrating third-party systems with existing digitization solutions. The specialist will also be crucial in advancing the Kitodo and DSpace-based digitization workflows by integrating APIs and exploring alternative, potentially AI-driven, solutions. This position is ideal for a technically proficient individual with a strong understanding of Open Access principles and library services, eager to shape the future of digital content presentation and access within an academic library setting.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Diplom-Ingenieur or Master of Science) in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrated abilities, knowledge, and experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience with established Open Access solutions
  • Experience in developing and integrating digital library services
  • Experience with the requirements for presenting digital content and editions online
