Job Summary

The Bundesamt für Logistik und Mobilität (BALM) is seeking IT Specialists for Application Development and Operations to join their team in Cologne. This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing the agency's modern and high-performing IT infrastructure, which supports critical functions like freight transport control and promotes sustainable mobility. Day-to-day responsibilities include the full lifecycle of software development, from planning and programming web applications to implementing frontend and backend functionalities, conducting tests, and creating technical documentation. You will also be involved in the planning, introduction, and support of IT procedures, including project technical support, IT feasibility studies, and 2nd-level support. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Diploma in Computer Science, Automation, or Business Informatics, or equivalent experience, and possess strong analytical, conceptual, and communication skills.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's or Diploma degree in Computer Science, Automation, or Business Informatics, or equivalent qualifications and experience; or civil service qualification for the higher non-technical or technical administrative service of the federal government.

Experience

  • Professional experience with application operations in Linux- and Microsoft-based server environments
  • Professional experience with databases (Oracle, SQL) and SQL language
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook
  • Experience with software distribution and monitoring systems
  • Experience in project execution using tools and methodologies like V-Modell-XT, MS-Project
  • Experience with TypeScript/JavaScript, PHP, HTML, CSS/Tailwind, SQL, PowerShell
  • Experience with web frameworks (e.g., NextJS, VueJS)
  • Experience with Linux systems
