Job Summary
The Munich Police Department is seeking several IT Criminal Investigators to join their team, starting May 1, 2026. In this role, you will independently investigate cases of cybercrime, including credit card fraud, identity theft, and hacker attacks. You will also leverage your digital expertise to support colleagues in traditional criminal cases such as drug offenses, violent crimes, and terrorism. Key responsibilities include analyzing digital evidence, managing cybercrime cases, participating in searches, securing and evaluating evidence, conducting interrogations, and contributing to crime prevention and public relations. This position offers a challenging and varied role with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, providing a crisis-proof and future-oriented career within a modern metropolitan police force. Candidates should be highly motivated, adaptable, and possess strong analytical and communication skills.
Required Skills
Education
University or University of Applied Sciences degree (Bachelor or Diploma) in Computer Science (all specializations), Information and Communication Technology, Electrical Engineering, Business and IT Security, or a comparable degree with coursework in databases, programming, algorithms, etc. (minimum 180 ECTS points).
Experience
- Relevant professional experience in the IT sector (desirable)
- Physical, mental, and psychological resilience for police duties

- Must uphold the free democratic basic order as per the German Basic Law. Must be a German or EU citizen (exceptions possible). Must be law-abiding. Must have stable financial circumstances. Must not have completed 45th year of age at the time of appointment to civil servant status. Must pass a police medical examination. Consent to and successful completion of a reliability check (pursuant to Art. 60a PAG) is required. For civil servant status, generally requires at least three years of relevant full-time professional experience (including one year of police-specific training).
