Job Summary

This role involves conducting essential laboratory and field work for a research project focused on adapting caraway cultivation to climate change in Germany. The successful candidate will perform molecular biological tasks like DNA/RNA extraction and sequencing preparation, conduct content analyses including extractions and distillations, and carry out plant crossings. Day-to-day activities also include supporting the planting, care, and harvesting of field and greenhouse trials, as well as preparing seed samples and documenting data using MS Office. The position requires a background in technical assistance or biological laboratory work, significant experience in managing lab and field experiments, and a foundational understanding of plant breeding methods. This is an attractive opportunity for a motivated and flexible individual to contribute to important climate adaptation research in an international environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Technical Assistant (preferably Biological Technical Assistant), Biological Laboratory Technician, or Plant Technologist, or equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • Several years of experience in supervising laboratory and field trials
  • Professional experience as a technical assistant, biological laboratory technician, or plant technologist
  • Basic knowledge of breeding methodologies

  • Class B (III) driver's license and willingness to undertake business trips independently with a company vehicle. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until August 31, 2028, subject to funding availability. Part-time employment is possible. The role is based in Quedlinburg, Germany.
