Job Summary

This part-time (65%) Research Associate position, based at the Zoological Institute and Museum at the University of Greifswald, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a DFG-funded research project focusing on the chemical ecology of the Mediterranean Black Widow spider. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary, international team within the 'Animal Metabolomics & Ecology' group, utilizing advanced analytical techniques. Day-to-day tasks include conducting behavioral ecology experiments, applying LC/MS and GC/MS-based metabolomics for pheromonal communication studies, analyzing data, and contributing to scientific publications. This role is ideal for a curious and reliable individual with a strong interest in behavioral and chemical ecology, offering comprehensive training for candidates without specific prior experience in analytical chemistry or animal handling.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent in Biology, Chemistry, or a related discipline

Experience

  • Experience in analytical chemistry (LC/MS, GC/MS) and/or behavioral experiments (desired, but training provided)
  • Experience in animal husbandry and colony care (desired)
  • Professional experience in a multidisciplinary team environment
