Job Summary

The University of Technology Nuremberg (UTN) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Laboratory to establish and manage a state-of-the-art multi-method lab within the Department of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. This pivotal role involves designing, setting up, and technically overseeing the lab, including the selection and implementation of specialized hardware like EEG, Eyetracking, and NIRS, crucial for advancing psychological and neuroscientific research. The successful candidate will also actively contribute to research projects, develop experimental and methodological concepts, and provide teaching in statistics and experimental design. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a modern research environment, collaborate with leading research groups in cognitive psychology and neuroscience, and contribute significantly to both scientific discovery and academic instruction at an innovative, newly founded university.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Bioengineering, or a related field, AND a completed doctorate in a relevant subject; OR career qualification for the fourth qualification level of the education and science career path with a completed doctorate in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Bioengineering, or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in neurocognitive research and laboratory technology (especially with EEG, fMRI, Eyetracking, behavioral data)
  • At least two years of professional experience in neurocognitive research and laboratory technology after completing a doctorate
  • Desirable: At least two years of practical experience in leading a neurocognitive/psychological laboratory
  • Desirable: Experience in neurocognitive research with toddlers
