Job Summary

This part-time (50%) Research Associate position at OTH Amberg-Weiden focuses on a critical environmental challenge: detecting lithium-ion batteries in waste streams to prevent fires during processing. The successful candidate will conduct comprehensive research, develop and test detection technologies (e.g., optical, thermal, sensor-based), and analyze data to improve recognition rates. This role involves close collaboration with industry partners to translate research findings into industrial applications and supports the acquisition of third-party funding. It offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a highly relevant societal issue within an interdisciplinary research environment, fostering practical solutions for circular economy and waste disposal safety.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent in Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in conducting experiments and evaluating measurement data is desirable
  • Knowledge in sensor technology, image processing, or AI-based pattern recognition is advantageous
