Job Summary
This role is for an Electronics Engineer to join the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE) in Garching, near Munich, focusing on the eXTP satellite mission. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the development, integration, and testing of spectroscopic silicon drift detectors (SDD) for this crucial space-based X-ray mission. Day-to-day tasks will involve performing commissioning tests on detector PCBs, conducting functional tests of ASICs on detector boards, and optimizing the existing detector test setup for power supply and data acquisition. A key responsibility will be setting up a dedicated ASIC test station. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge astronomical instruments, contribute to a significant international space project, and collaborate with a diverse team of experienced engineers and physicists in a leading research environment.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (Elektrotechnik) or equivalent qualification
Experience
- Experience in the development of analog and digital electronics (ideally using ASICs and their periphery)
- Experience in operating scientific test setups and testing electronic modules
- Professional experience in electronics development or relevant pre-existing knowledge for entry-level candidates
