Job Summary
The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) is seeking a Technical Employee to join their Plasma to Wall (P2W) team in Garching. This role is crucial for supporting fusion research, specifically at the ASDEX Upgrade experiment. The successful candidate will be involved in the technical support for manufacturing material samples, their characterization and testing in the lab, and the setup and maintenance of new and existing material characterization and testing facilities. They will also be responsible for documentation and providing technical support for experimental operations. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a background in materials science, applied physics, or mechanical engineering, who is eager to contribute to a leading scientific environment and possesses strong teamwork skills.
Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training with further qualification as a state-certified Technician in Materials Science, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or similar. Engineers with relevant qualifications are also encouraged to apply.
Experience
- Professional experience in materials science, applied physics, or mechanical engineering
- Experience with metallic and/or composite materials (advantageous)
Languages
Additional
- Temporary contract for 2 years. Willingness to pursue further education. Interest in working in a scientific environment.
