Job Summary

This role seeks a Scientific Assistant to join the highly international Biomedical Data Science (BMDS) Lab at ETH Zurich, focusing on data-driven solutions for neurological conditions like spinal cord injury (SCI). The core mission involves integrating diverse clinical, neurophysiological, and biomarker data from international databases using advanced machine learning techniques. The assistant will be responsible for exploring and managing heterogeneous SCI datasets, developing multi-branch deep learning models, and implementing a multi-task learning framework to predict patient recovery outcomes. This cutting-edge research aims to enhance predictive performance and interpretability, supporting personalized treatment strategies. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in a relevant technical field and possess strong Python programming skills, specifically utilizing Keras/TensorFlow and/or PyTorch. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

  • Proven track record in developing and training machine and deep learning models.
  • Professional experience utilizing statistical data analysis.
  • Experience with collaborative coding practices and version control (e.g., Git), and working on computing clusters.
  • Experience in biomedical projects and interdisciplinary collaboration (preferred).

Additional

  • 1-year project-based contract with an 80% workload, based at the BMDS Lab (ETH Zurich). Anticipated start date is March 1, 2026.
