Job Summary
This leadership role at the Materials Testing Institute of North Rhine-Westphalia (MPA NRW) in Dortmund offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of a key public institution. The successful candidate will lead Department 1, focusing on radiation protection, personal dosimetry, and radioactivity measurements, overseeing five specialized units. This involves coordinating and managing departmental workflows, ensuring proper task execution, and spearheading the strategic realignment of the department. Beyond departmental leadership, the role includes coordinating company-wide initiatives and projects, developing and implementing new structures and processes with an eye on economic efficiency and legal compliance, and representing MPA NRW in national and international committees. A significant aspect of the position is serving as the permanent deputy to the overall company director, requiring strong strategic competence, assertiveness, and social skills. This position is ideal for a seasoned leader with a background in law, natural sciences, or engineering, who is eager to drive change and contribute to the economic and competitive improvement of the organization.
Required Skills
Education
• Qualification for judicial office OR • University degree (Master/Diploma) in Physics or Chemistry OR • Technical university degree (Master/Diploma) in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
- Several years of professional experience with disciplinary leadership responsibility
- Practical experience as a leader in accompanying change processes (Change Management)
- Supervisory activity in a mid-level authority or supreme state/federal authority
- Experience in leading larger organizational units
