Job Summary

The Max Rubner-Institut in Kiel is seeking a Research Scientist for a project focused on food and nutritional microbiology. In this role, you will primarily work on a third-party funded project, "LipoBac," which investigates lipolytically active Acinetobacter spp. spoilage organisms in raw milk. Your day-to-day tasks will involve isolating and characterizing bacteria, performing genome sequencing and comparative genomics, and developing rapid detection methods for these organisms. You will also be responsible for documenting experiments, preparing reports, and publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals, as well as presenting at scientific conferences. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field, practical experience in microbiological work, and strong German language skills.
