Doctoral Researcher / PhD (Natural Sciences) | Naturwissenschaftlicher Doktorand/PhD (m/w/d)
Universitätsklinikum Erlangen AöR
Job Summary
This role is for a highly motivated Doctoral Researcher to join a DFG-funded project focusing on individualized therapeutic approaches for kidney diseases, specifically investigating "RNASE1 as a new modulator of podocyte cytoskeletal regeneration." The successful candidate will conduct in-depth research on glomerulonephropathies, which impair the glomerular filtration barrier. Day-to-day tasks involve extensive cell culture work with various glomerular cell types, performing time-course and dose-response experiments with RNASe1 and its peptide derivatives, and analyzing experimental stress models in Zebrafish and mouse models. The role also requires proficiency in advanced imaging techniques like confocal and electron microscopy, as well as molecular biology methods such as PCR, Western Blot, and immunofluorescence staining. The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree in Biology, possess strong laboratory skills, and demonstrate high motivation, independence, teamwork, and creativity in problem-solving. Prior experience with animal experimentation (mice and Zebrafish) is highly desirable. This position offers an opportunity to work in a modern research facility within an interdisciplinary, international, and highly motivated team, providing excellent support, training in innovative methodologies, and opportunities for professional development through graduate colleges and conference participation.
