Job Summary

This role involves performing molecular genetic analyses (DNA analyses) to generate court-admissible expert opinions within the State Criminal Police Office of Schleswig-Holstein, specifically in the DNA Analytics and Biology department. Day-to-day tasks include macroscopic and microscopic searching and preparation of biological traces, detailed documentation of evidence, and conducting enzymatic, immunological, and microscopic detection methods. The position requires manual and automated DNA extraction, operation of computer-controlled pipetting robots, quantitative DNA determination via Real-Time PCR, STR-PCR analysis, and evaluation of STR-PCR fragments using capillary sequencers. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of new analytical procedures, maintain laboratory equipment, and support the quality management system. Required Skills

Education

State-recognized qualification as a Biological-Technical Assistant, Agricultural-Technical Assistant, Medical-Technical Laboratory Assistant, Biology Laboratory Technician, or Dairy Laboratory Technician.

Experience

  • Practical experience with molecular genetic procedures, especially DNA extractions and PCR
  • Experience with analytical large-scale devices (sequencers or laboratory automation) is advantageous

  • Class B driving license (required by start date); willingness and ability to handle heavily blood-stained/soiled evidence; organizational skills; practical thinking; ability to work independently and as part of a team; willingness to work full-day shifts occasionally for crime scene assignments and laboratory work; no impairments of the musculoskeletal system or sensory organs (e.g., ear, mouth, eyes) that cannot be compensated with aids; differentiated color vision must be present. This is a full-time, temporary position until August 11, 2026, covering parental leave.
