Job Summary
The Federal Institute for Public Health (BIÖG) is seeking two System Administrators to join their Information and Communication Technology department. This role involves the comprehensive management, development, and documentation of server hardware and software systems, including Linux (SLES, Red Hat) and MS Windows Servers, within virtualized (VMware) and high-availability cluster environments. The successful candidates will ensure system operational readiness, perform backup and restore operations, manage storage, and handle incident resolution through first and second-level support. Additionally, the role includes planning and executing IT projects, implementing new IT procedures, and ensuring compliance with IT security and e-government regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with strong technical skills to contribute to a modern IT infrastructure supporting 350 users and numerous public-facing internet services.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (FH-Diplom/Bachelor) preferably in Computer Science or a comparable degree, OR successfully completed vocational training as an IT Specialist or comparable relevant vocational training.
Experience
- Professional experience as an IT Specialist or comparable relevant professional experience
- Proven multi-year professional experience in IT
- In-depth IT knowledge of current technology/software

- Temporary position for two years. Full-time (39 hours/week). Eligibility for potential above-tariff advance granting of development stages and an additional temporary IT specialist allowance of up to 1,000 Euros per month depending on qualifications and experience.
