Job Summary

This role is for an experienced scientist to lead the "Human Cell Line Genomics" group within the Human and Animal Cell Lines Department at the Leibniz Institute DSMZ. The successful candidate will establish and lead their own research projects, focusing on human cancer genomics using human cell lines, and actively seek third-party funding and publish their findings. Additionally, the Group Leader will oversee the genotyping service for cell line authentication, contribute to the functional characterization of cell lines, and manage external diagnostic services. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage DSMZ's extensive collection of human cancer cell lines and collaborate within a supportive, interdisciplinary team, contributing to both cutting-edge research and essential collection services.

Required Skills

Education

Doctorate in Biology or a related field

Experience

  • At least three years of Postdoctoral experience
  • Proven track record in publications and grant applications
  • Experience in high-throughput sequencing and analysis of human cell line models
  • Experience in cell culture and molecular biology
  • Experience in supervising theses (Bachelor/Master/PhD)

  • The position is full-time and offered for a fixed term of 5 years, with the possibility of conversion to a permanent position after positive evaluation.
