Job Summary

This PhD position at the University of Cologne's Institute of Biochemistry offers an exciting opportunity within the Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1218, focusing on mitochondrial regulation of cellular function. The successful candidate will join the Riemer lab to investigate how redox signals facilitate communication between mitochondria and the cell, and their impact on mitochondrial outer membrane proteostasis. The role involves designing and executing a variety of biochemical and cell biological experiments, including -omics approaches and genetically encoded fluorescent proteins, to uncover molecular mechanisms of redox signaling within mammalian mitochondria. This position is ideal for a curious and enthusiastic individual with a strong background in molecular biology or biochemistry, eager to contribute to cutting-edge research in a supportive academic environment.
