Job Summary

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a Bachelor of Science graduate in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering to join the Oenology Group at the Institute for Viticulture & Oenology in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed analyses of grape, must, and wine components using various methods including FTIR, enzymatic, wet chemical, HPLC, and GC. A key part of the role involves adapting analytical methods for research and experimental purposes, managing general laboratory organization, and ensuring compliance with DIN EN ISO 17025 accreditation standards through participation in interlaboratory tests and audits. The position also includes direct interaction with clients, handling sample reception, and releasing results. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until October 13, 2026, offering a stable work environment within the public service.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or comparable studies with a chemical focus

Experience

  • Very good practical knowledge in food analytics, preferably in wine analytics
  • Professional experience in laboratory organization and accreditation processes (DIN EN ISO 17025)
  • Experience with customer interaction and sample management

Languages

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Fixed-term contract until October 13, 2026 (parental leave replacement). Willingness to work outside core hours during peak seasons (e.g., wine harvest).
