Ph.D. Student in Cognitive and Data Science | Ph.D. student in Cognitive and Data Science (all genders welcome)
Deutsches Primatenzentrum GmbH
Job Summary
The Embodied Cognition Research Group is seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. student to join a three-year, DFG-funded project focused on applying machine learning to understand gaze-based communication and value-based decision-making in primates, including humans, rhesus macaques, and red-fronted lemurs. The successful candidate will develop a predictive computational model using recurrent neural networks to explore how overt cues influence decision-making and are represented in cortical networks. This role involves working with complex brain and behavioral data from naturalistic, interactive scenarios, leveraging state-of-the-art machine learning tools to extract interpretable latent dynamics. The position offers a collaborative environment with experts in computer and data sciences, behavioral ecology, and psychology across Germany, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in cognitive and neurosciences.
