Job Summary

This role at the Police Department of Verden/Osterholz involves critical work in IT forensics, supporting criminal investigations. The successful candidate will assess necessary measures, prepare for and accompany police operations related to IT systems, and independently secure digital evidence from storage media. Key responsibilities include digital forensic data processing and evaluation, network and malware analysis (e.g., DDoS attacks, extortion, botnets), and providing expert witness testimony in court. The position requires developing and adapting software tools for digital forensics and advising the department on interpreting results. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (e.g., Computer Science, Business Informatics, Media Informatics, Electrical Engineering), General and Digital Forensics, Mathematics, Physics, or Statistics; OR completed vocational training as a State-certified Technician in Electrical Engineering (Information/Communication), IT Systems Electronics Technician, or IT Specialist in System Integration, or comparable IT-related training.

Experience

  • At least one year of practical experience in a related field (if holding a relevant Bachelor's degree)
  • Relevant prior knowledge in IT forensics or several years of professional experience within the Lower Saxony State Police (if holding a vocational IT qualification)
