Job Summary
Join the Lüneburg Police Directorate as an IT Forensics Specialist to tackle the complex challenges of digital investigations. You will be responsible for the forensic acquisition and processing of legally relevant data from seized hardware like PCs, laptops, and mobile devices. This involves overcoming device security mechanisms, using specialized forensic software for data recovery, content analysis, and potentially applying AI for content evaluation. The role requires preparing and documenting findings in a court-admissible expert report style and representing them as an expert witness. You will also advise investigators on interpreting results and support IT-related measures during police operations. The position offers a permanent, full-time role (39.8 hours/week) based in Lüneburg, classified under salary group 11 of the TV-L collective agreement, and is suitable for part-time work.
Required Skills
Education
Successfully completed university studies (Bachelor of Science, Fachhochschulabschluss or comparable) in Information Technology (e.g., IT Forensics, IT Security, Computer Science, Business Informatics, Electrical Engineering), Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or the degree program 'General and Digital Forensics (B.Sc.)'. Alternatively, a relevant vocational training in the IT sector (e.g., Fachinformatiker/in, IT-Systemelektroniker/in, Staatlich geprüfte/r Techniker/in in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science).
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of practical experience in information and communication technology (for salary group 11)
- Completed university degree (Bachelor of Science, technical college degree, or equivalent) in Information Technology (e.g., IT Forensics, IT Security, Computer Science, Business Informatics, Electrical Engineering), Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or 'General and Digital Forensics (B.Sc.)'
- Alternatively, relevant IT vocational training (e.g., IT Specialist, IT System Electrician, State-certified Technician in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science)
- Experience in handling operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS)
- Experience with heterogeneous networks and communication systems
- Experience with internet technologies
- Experience with cryptography
- Experience with mobile communication and GSM technology
