Job Summary
Join DESY, a leading global research center in Hamburg, as a Physicist-Technical Assistant focused on accelerator vacuum systems. In this 2-year fixed-term role, you will conduct measurements on vacuum surface properties, perform vacuum engineering tasks, coat vacuum components, and ensure quality control for Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) systems. The ideal candidate possesses a state-recognized qualification as a physicist-technical assistant or equivalent, with strong knowledge in UHV technology, materials science, and measurement/control engineering. Experience with complex experimental setups and non-destructive material testing is beneficial. This position offers a unique research environment, flexible working hours, and a supportive, family-friendly atmosphere.
Required Skills
Education
State-recognized qualification as a physicist-technical assistant or comparable specialization, or equivalent skills and experience.
Experience
- Professional experience in vacuum engineering and UHV systems
- Experience in materials science and measurement/control engineering
- Experience with non-destructive material testing is beneficial
- Experience in the setup and operation of complex experimental apparatus is advantageous
Languages
Additional
- Suitability for driving, controlling, and monitoring activities (occupational health examination G25). Fixed-term contract for 2 years. Full-time position.
