Job Summary
The Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences is seeking a Biologist to join the Ubiquitin Signaling Specificity research group. This PhD position offers the opportunity to explore cutting-edge research in one of three directions: the mechanism of small-molecule ubiquitination, the structural mechanism and biological functions of a dual kinase-ligase, or structural analyses of localization-dependent ubiquitination. The role involves contributing to a multidisciplinary team focused on understanding how ubiquitin coordinates eukaryotic physiology, with potential therapeutic applications. The ideal candidate will be curiosity-driven, creative, and passionate about science, possessing strong self-motivation and independence. Required Skills
Education
MSc or equivalent degree in a relevant area of the life sciences.
Experience
- Initial experience in protein biochemistry, mammalian cell biology, or structural biology is desired.
- Experience in scientific research is implied by the PhD position.

- The position is funded for three years with a possibility of extension. Remuneration is based on the TVöD Bund (German federal civil service pay scale), depending on qualifications and professional experience. Public sector social benefits apply.
