Job Summary
This role involves contributing to forensic investigations by processing and analyzing biological evidence. You will conduct serological and molecular genetic assessments, determine investigation strategies, perform biostatistical analyses of DNA results, and author and defend forensic reports in court. The position also includes guiding technical staff and developing new methodologies. The ideal candidate possesses a university degree, preferably with a PhD, in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life science with a focus on molecular biology or genetics. Essential experience includes practical laboratory work with DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and capillary electrophoresis, alongside statistical interpretation of analysis results and knowledge of quality management. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Dresden, offering a secure public sector role with opportunities for professional development.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university studies, preferably with a PhD, in Biology, Biochemistry, or a comparable natural science discipline with a clear specialization in Molecular Biology and/or Genetics/Molecular Medicine.
Experience
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in practical laboratory work, including DNA/RNA extraction methods, quantitative and qualitative PCR, and capillary electrophoresis.
- Professional experience in process automation (Robotics, LIMS, etc.).
- Professional experience in the statistical interpretation of analysis results.
- Experience in forensic settings is highly advantageous.
- Experience with quality management according to DIN ISO 17025 is advantageous.
- Experience in building and using databases is advantageous.
- Experience in simulating and evaluating population genetic/medical data or biochemical processes is advantageous.
