Job Summary
This role focuses on Online Remote Updates (ORU/OTA) for automotive electronic control units throughout their lifecycle, from concept to in-vehicle operation. You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evolving remote update strategies for ECUs, domains, and entire vehicles. Key tasks include integrating ORU systems into test environments (SIL, HiL), ensuring their reliable function, and securing update processes with rollback and recovery mechanisms. You will also analyze and resolve update, integration, and system errors, define ORU processes, and collaborate closely with software development, cybersecurity, testing, and IT teams. This position offers a chance to be a technical point of contact for ORU topics, contribute to projects and committees, and drive internal knowledge sharing within a team shaping the future of automotive electronics.
Required Skills
Education
Completed degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a comparable qualification.
Experience
- Several years of experience with OTA, ORU, or software update systems in the automotive sector.
- Professional experience in integrating ORU systems into SIL, HiL, or vehicle test environments.
- Experience with rollback, recovery, and fallback mechanisms for update processes.
- Experience with automotive bus systems and communication protocols.
- Experience with common analysis tools.
- Experience with flash, bootloader, update, and diagnostic concepts.
- Experience with OTA platforms, backend integrations, or update frameworks is ideal.
- Experience with CI/CD-related processes in software and update environments is a plus.
- Experience within the VW Group environment is a plus.
- Programming experience in C++, C#, Python, or other scripting languages is helpful.
