PhD Candidate in Biophysics, Biochemistry, and/or Biomaterials | Doktorand*in (w/m/d) im Fachbereich der Biophysik, Biochemie und/oder Biomaterialien
DWI Leibniz-Institut für Interaktive Materialien e.V.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join a research group focused on soft and biological materials for biomedical and sustainable applications. This role involves investigating the interplay of liquid-liquid or liquid-solid phases within biological materials, particularly how their structure dictates properties. You will explore phase-separated protein inclusions in biological polymer networks and their mechanical impact, contributing to the understanding and potential treatment of neurological diseases. The project utilizes scattering techniques (X-ray, neutron, light) and fluorescence microscopy to study biomolecular condensates, with initial focus on Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) and Fused-in-Sarcoma (FUS) proteins. This interdisciplinary position offers direct supervision, collaborations, access to advanced techniques, and a supportive international research environment.
