Job Summary
Forto is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to revolutionize logistics through AI and digital supply chains. In this role, you will own production ML systems, focusing on extracting structured intelligence from unstructured logistics data. Your day-to-day will involve designing, building, and maintaining ML pipelines for document extraction, classification, and data enrichment, utilizing LLMs and custom models. You will also drive improvements in accuracy, build semantic similarity models, and contribute to rate sheet parsing. The role extends to developing next-generation DS workstreams like demand forecasting and route optimization. You will collaborate closely with Engineering and Product Managers, manage stakeholder expectations, and ensure the reliability of DS outputs. The ideal candidate possesses 3+ years of experience in data science or ML engineering, with a strong ability to deploy and maintain production ML systems, proficiency in Python, hands-on LLM experience, and a solid foundation in classical data science and statistics.

- 3+ years of professional experience in data science or machine learning engineering
- Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining ML systems in production, including pipeline architecture, monitoring, and reliability
- Hands-on experience with LLMs (prompting, fine-tuning, evaluation)
- Experience with classical data science and statistics (regression, classification, time series analysis, data leakage, experimental design, hypothesis testing)
- Experience with agentic tools for coding
- Experience in logistics, supply chain, or freight forwarding domains (preferred)
- Experience working directly with Product Managers and Engineering teams (preferred)
- Experience with human-in-the-loop (HITL) workflows and designing feedback loops for model improvement (preferred)
- Experience with demand forecasting, time series modeling, or churn prediction in a business context (preferred)
- Experience with route or network optimization (preferred)
