Job Summary

The German Archaeological Institute (DAI) seeks a Technical Employee, specifically a System Administrator, for its Central Scientific Services in Berlin. This full-time, fixed-term position involves modernizing and improving the iDAI.world IT infrastructure. Key responsibilities include planning and executing migrations of software repositories and CI/CD workflows, updating system documentation, renewing monitoring concepts, and managing Linux servers and applications. The role also entails planning and implementing security measures and backups, and maintaining technical documentation. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience, along with proven skills in Linux server administration, containerization, databases, and Git. Proficiency in both German and English is required.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with an IT component, OR completed vocational training as an IT specialist for system integration, IT specialist, or related fields with relevant professional experience, OR equivalent skills and at least three years of professional experience.

Experience

  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in the described tasks, or equivalent skills.
  • Experience in the use of Linux Servers.
  • Experience in Containerization.
  • Experience with various Database Systems.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Experience with ticket systems.
  • Experience with documentation platforms.
