Job Summary

The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine is seeking a Technical Assistant to join the newly established 'Functional Genetics' department led by Prof. Dr. Rui Benedito. In this role, you will support an international research team focused on cardiovascular biology and innovative genetic technologies. Your daily responsibilities will include performing a variety of cell biological, biochemical, immunohistochemical, and molecular biological tasks, such as cloning and genotyping of mouse models. Beyond experimental work, you will manage laboratory operations, maintain equipment, optimize protocols, and ensure accurate documentation and data analysis. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative, scientific environment. You will be expected to support and guide team members while maintaining a structured approach to laboratory management. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant (BTA, MTA, or CTA).

Experience

  • Professional experience in laboratory management and organization
  • Experience in molecular biological techniques including cloning and genotyping
  • Experience in cell culture and working with mouse models
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team

Additional

  • Work permit for Germany required. Position is initially limited to 2 years with the intention of long-term employment. Full-time or part-time options available.
