Job Summary

This role involves serving as a key scientific expert within the State Agency for Environment and Agriculture (BfUL) in Nossen. The successful candidate will oversee the S1 genetic engineering facility, conduct molecular biological analyses—specifically PCR-based testing for GMOs—and manage the validation of microbiological methods for pathogen detection in seeds and animal feed. You will act as a reference laboratory coordinator, collaborating with the EURL-GMFF and participating in national expert committees. The position requires a high level of autonomy in organizing laboratory workflows, ensuring rigorous quality assurance, and drafting official reports for government stakeholders. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or University Diploma in Biology, Biotechnology, or a closely related scientific field. Accredited Master's degrees from Universities of Applied Sciences are accepted.

Experience

  • Professional experience in molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology, or virology
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of genetic engineering
  • Experience working in an accredited analytical laboratory
  • Experience in quality assurance processes
  • Experience in staff supervision or leadership

Additional
