Job Summary

The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research is seeking a Technical Assistant (BTA/CTA) to join the VIRI department, which focuses on viral research and immune responses. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and analyzing experiments involving Herpes, Corona, and Pneumoviruses. Your day-to-day tasks will include cell culture work, cloning, in vivo infection models, and laboratory organization. You will utilize advanced techniques such as plaque assays, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a multidisciplinary, international research environment. You will work with state-of-the-art infrastructure and contribute to innovative vaccine development. The role requires a strong background in laboratory techniques, including recombinant DNA technology, and a willingness to work in high-security (S3) laboratory environments and with animal models. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), or equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in mammalian cell culture
  • Professional experience with cloning methods
  • Professional experience in recombinant DNA technology, virus propagation, and infection experiments
  • Experience with animal testing is considered an advantage
  • Experience working in high-security (S3) laboratories is considered an advantage
