Job Summary

The Goethe University Frankfurt is seeking a motivated Research Associate (PhD Candidate) to join the Institute for Theoretical Physics under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Falko Pientka. This part-time position, funded by the DFG-supported SFB Transregio 288, focuses on the dynamics of strongly coupled electron-phonon systems. The successful candidate will conduct doctoral research in the field of condensed matter quantum theory, specifically investigating collective excitations in many-body systems, transport properties, or non-equilibrium dynamics. Daily activities include conducting independent research, applying analytical and numerical methods, and contributing to teaching responsibilities within the department. This role offers a unique opportunity to work within a prominent research environment at one of Germany's largest universities, collaborating with the Rhein-Main-Universities network. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in Physics and possess a strong academic background in quantum mechanics and statistical physics. The position is fixed-term until June 30, 2028, providing a stable environment for doctoral studies.
