Job Summary
The Paul-Ehrlich-Institut is seeking Biological Technical Assistants to join their Infectious Diseases and EU Reference Laboratory departments. In this role, you will perform critical laboratory work related to the batch testing of human vaccines and in-vitro diagnostics, such as blood grouping test systems. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting experimental testing using immunological, biochemical, and molecular biological methods, ensuring high-quality documentation in compliance with quality management (QM) standards, and participating in the development and optimization of testing procedures. You will also be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, managing reference materials, and handling digital documentation systems. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a background in biology or chemistry who is comfortable working with infectious materials. You will work within a scientific federal institution, contributing to public health safety and participating in a collaborative, research-oriented environment. Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training as a Biology Laboratory Technician or state-recognized technical assistant (BTA/Laborant), preferably with a focus on biology or chemistry.
Experience
- Professional experience in laboratory work, specifically in biological or chemical settings.
- Experience with virological, immunological, hematological, molecular biological, or biochemical methods is highly desirable.

Additional
- Willingness to handle infectious examination materials. This position is a fixed-term contract for three years. The role is evaluated according to the E 9a TVöD public service pay scale.
