Job Summary
The Medical University Lausitz - Carl Thiem is seeking a dedicated Tax Specialist to join their Finance and Accounting team in Cottbus. In this full-time, permanent role, you will play a key part in supporting the university and its subsidiaries with tax and balance sheet inquiries. Your daily responsibilities will include preparing VAT returns, assisting with monthly and annual financial statements, tax declarations, and financial planning. You will also contribute to sustainability reporting, liquidity planning, and the optimization of digital financial processes. This position offers a unique opportunity for professional growth, with the potential for qualified candidates to advance into a Deputy Team Lead role. Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training as a Tax Clerk (Steuerfachangestellter), Tax Specialist (Steuerfachwirt), or a commercial education with a focus on accounting/taxation, or certification as a Balance Sheet Accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter).
Experience
- Professional experience in tax accounting or financial management
- Experience in preparing annual financial statements and tax declarations
- Experience in supporting corporate financial planning and analysis
Languages
Additional
- Must possess at least B2 level German proficiency. The role is based in Cottbus, Germany. Full-time position (minimum 35 hours/week for part-time requests).
