Job Summary

This role involves performing physical material first-article inspections on internal and purchased parts, including planning investigations, sampling, and documentation. You will independently conduct metallographic sample preparation—such as cutting, grinding, polishing, and etching—and perform microscopic evaluations. A key part of your day-to-day will be assessing metallographic findings on serial and special samples, communicating results to internal departments like Quality, Engineering, and Procurement. You will also coordinate additional mechanical-technological tests and verify supplier documentation for compliance. This position is based in a traditional, medium-sized motorsport company, offering a unique opportunity to work in a high-performance environment. You will be responsible for ensuring material quality standards are met through rigorous testing and clear reporting. The role requires a strong technical background in materials science and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams including suppliers and internal quality departments.

Required Skills

Education

Completed technical vocational training as a Materials Tester, Metallographer, Technician, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in metallography, particularly with iron and cast materials
  • Experience in sample preparation including grinding, etching, and microscopy
  • Experience in performing material first-article inspections and documentation
  • Experience working with quality guidelines and technical standards
