Job Summary

The Scientific Computing Center (SCC) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is seeking a specialist to join an interdisciplinary team focused on the 'Breathing Data Center' project. In this role, you will conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for high-performance computing and large-scale storage systems. Your day-to-day responsibilities include developing a digital twin of data center infrastructures, evaluating ecological, economic, and social impacts, and deriving actionable strategies for decarbonization and energy efficiency in alignment with KIT’s sustainability goals. You will also provide expert consultation on ecological aspects for the 'District Data Center' project. This position is ideal for a professional with a background in environmental sciences, computer science, or engineering who is passionate about the intersection of IT, sustainability, and large-scale research infrastructure. You will work in a collaborative, international environment, contributing to cutting-edge research while benefiting from flexible working models and professional development opportunities.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or PhD in Environmental Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
