Job Summary

This role involves managing the lifecycle and maintenance of municipal buildings, including schools, residential, and administrative properties. As a Structural Facility Management Engineer, you will independently plan and execute building maintenance, renovations, and upgrades, ensuring cost-efficiency, sustainability, and long-term operational viability. Your daily responsibilities include monitoring maintenance work, overseeing statutory inspections (such as fire safety systems), and conducting regular building inspections. You will be responsible for cost estimation, managing public procurement processes (VOB), and reviewing invoices. This position is ideal for an experienced professional with a background in civil engineering or architecture who excels at coordinating complex projects, negotiating with contractors, and ensuring compliance with building codes and fire safety regulations. You will work closely with department leadership to implement structural and safety improvements, contributing directly to the quality and safety of public infrastructure. Required Skills

Education

Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a comparable field from a university or university of applied sciences; eligibility for the technical civil service (Laufbahngruppe 2.1).

Experience

  • Professional experience in building maintenance within the structural engineering (Hochbau) sector
  • Experience in managing public procurement processes and contract law
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating maintenance projects and structural inspections
