Job Summary

The Julius Kühn-Institut is seeking a Technical Assistant to support an innovative research project focused on developing RNA-based bio-insecticides for sustainable crop protection. In this role, you will contribute to the production of bio-based polymer formulations using electrospinning, conduct behavioral tests with insects, and validate RNA applications in both laboratory and field settings. Your day-to-day work will involve greenhouse and field plant care, insect rearing, and meticulous documentation of experimental data. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a background in biology or laboratory technology. You will work in an international environment, contributing to environmentally friendly agricultural solutions. The role requires a hands-on approach, technical aptitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. This is a part-time position (19.5 hours/week) based in Dossenheim, offering a unique opportunity to participate in cutting-edge agricultural research within a public service framework.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant or Biological Laboratory Technician, or an equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience as a technical assistant or biological laboratory technician
  • Experience in polymer chemistry, specifically the production and use of biopolymers and fiber electrospinning
  • Practical experience with insect pest management in agricultural crops
  • Experience in documenting and managing scientific data
